This GivingTuesday, be a force for social change

November 28, 2024

Today is GivingTuesday! Every year, this special day unites people and organizations all over the world to advance change in their communities through the power of giving and volunteering.

Canadians are especially generous on Giving Tuesday. Last year, over $53.8 million was raised in 24 hours for charities nationwide!

As you reflect on how you can be a force for social change in your community – please Donate to a Local United Way Centraide today.

As a national network of local community experts and a unifying force for social change, United Way Centraide aims to empower everyone to improve lives and build strong communities.

Working in close partnership with more than 4,770 unique community service organizations, every year our network collectively serves more than eight million people in 5,000 communities nationwide. Together, we address critical challenges like poverty, mental health, social isolation, homelessness and housing affordability, food insecurity, and more.

Your donation to a local United Way Centraide today will fuel this incredible impact.

United Way Centraides lead and invest in community-led change strategies, programs and initiatives that create measurable and lasting changes toward solving homelessness.  In the past year, for example, one key initiative in the United Way Maritimes is the Shannon Park Development where 60 Tiny Home Units will be built in Lower Sackville, Nova Scotia.  Additionally, The Sunnyside Tiny Home Community is a supportive affordable housing community project in Saint John, New Brunswick, fundraising for and developing a new tiny home community in east Saint John. United Way will be the owner/operator.

Food insecurity is also a challenge where United Way Centraides make a difference by providing access to healthy, nutritious, and culturally preferable foods and by developing food literacy and wellness programming. As an example, United Way BC’s Regional Community Food Hubs collaborate with local organizations to provide groceries, food hampers, prepared meals, and other essential services.

United Way Centraides focus as well on mental health promotion, prevention and early intervention to ensure those impacted by mental health issues access the supports they need before the issues become deep-rooted and more challenging to treat.

We need everyone’s support as every dollar helps make a profound difference for people and communities across Canada.

Please Donate to a Local United Way Centraide today.

Thank you so much for your generosity and support in helping to create a wonderful and impactful Giving Tuesday!
